Concerto for Celtic Harp and Strings  (2001)
Commissioned in 2001 by the Strings of St. John's, the Concerto for Celtic Harp and Strings was premiered in April 2002 by Lucile Brais Hildesheim.  Lucile also performed it with a string quintet of players from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in May 2004.  Full scores, parts, as well as a minus one rehearsal CD are available from the composer.
Medicine Hat Police Service Regimental March  (2010)
This is an unusual piece for me, a concert march. The Medicine Hat police force wanted a unique regimental march for ceremonial use and commissioned me to write it for them. This recording was made by the Royal Canadian Artillery Band based in Edmonton, Alberta.
*Nearer, My God, To Thee
(Violin Duet and Piano)
This is a minor setting of Lowell Mason's famous hymn, evocative, expressive and yet worshipful. The violins are treated as equals in this piece, appropriate for intermediate players.  Purchase
Piano Solos
*Hark, the Herald Angels Sing   (2016)
I wrote this intermediate level arrangement of the famous Mendelssohn Christmas carol for one of my students to play.    Purchase
Suite for Piano (1979)
Danse - score
This is a set of piano pieces written when I was 18-19 years old.  They are among the few early works that I still distribute.  They are suitable for intermediate pianists.
*Hymn Fantasy No.1 for Piano
We Are Sowing (2016)
This dramatic piano solo is an homage to Schumann and Brahms, quoting Schumann's Romance 28/2. The tune's name is Westwood, composed by Henry Tucker. I find the text to this hymn especially profound: Filled with fruit of life eternal, from the seed we sowed in tears.  Purchase
*Hymn Fantasy No.2 for Piano
Thy Spirit, Lord, Has Stirred Our Souls (2016)
I wrote this piano solo as a gift for my daughter Jacqui. It is based on Alexander Schreiner's great hymn tune Bavaria, an LDS hymn that I believe has few peers in technique or artistry.  Purchase
*Hymn Fantasy No.3 for Piano
Abide with Me; 'Tis Eventide (2017)
A worldwide treasure, this hymn has been a favourite of mine since I was a child. Pianists will find echoes of Rachmaninoff in the style of this piece.  Purchase
Wind, Earth, Fire, Spirit (1988)
This advanced piano piece was a compositional exploration from my graduate school days.  It is a prelude in the spirit of Debussy, based on 1 Kings 19:11-12 And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains ... but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. The "still small voice" is evoked with the hymn "Thy Spirit, Lord, Has Stirred Our Souls" by Alexander Schreiner.
Suite Romantique for Piano (1991)
This advanced piano music was written at the close of my doctoral studies in Vancouver.  They show an advanced tonal style and requires an advanced piano technique.  Two of these pieces (Prelude and Toccatta) were premiered in concert by Elaine Keillor of Carleton University in Ottawa.
Three Pieces for Piano (2008)
I wrote these as teaching pieces for young pianists.  Hymn won first prize in the teaching piece category of the Alberta Piano Teachers Association's original composition competition in 2008.
